Hello -------,

I met you at the San Diego Art Fair- Beyond The Boarders". At the time we talked about curating a "works on paper" or something show for the West Los Angeles College art gallery? I would request to include the girl from Houston and the Circle gal

It would be great to correspond with you. I attached a couple of images to remind you of the work.

Here is the email I sent out so far:

"Thanks for your reply. No title yet for the show but so far, artist and curator Michael Arata's website can be found at:
http://rvf-artmuseum.csusb.edu/pressroom_3.html and he has been exhibited in various venues including Acuna-Hansen out in L.A.

The underlying concept of the show is that of a group where it focuses on portraiture and networking through physical meeting and Facebook/Twitter. The term of portraiture will be a rather loose concept and it incorporates the idea of what depiction of the human soul ought to be here.

Michael Arata's artist choices: Circlegal, ------ ------, and Mindy Kober

My artist choices include: Ike Bushman (accepted), Joshua Luther (accepted), Shay Kun (accepted), Matt Jones (accepted), Kadar Brock (?), William Brovelli (accepted), Jon Coffelt (accepted), Dave Thomas (accepted), Amy Lincoln (maybe), William Powhida (maybe), Tom Sanford (maybe), Amy Lincoln (accepted), J------ L------ (maybe).

There will be around 15-20 artists for what is a rather decently sized space at the West Los Angeles College Art Gallery with information at:

West Los Angeles College Art Gallery
9000 Overland Avenue
Culver City CA, USA
(310) 287-4200
www.wlac.edu

Shows there included: http://themagla.com/Detailed/1936.html

I appreciate your response and I will provide more details about the work which will related to portraiture (abstractly or literally) in relation to the idea of networking or friendship connection through new media/internet/Facebook/Twitter, etc."

Hi Qi,

I think it might be easiest to have the work shipped to my home. It took me several weeks to get stuff that had been shipped to the plant facilities department. What do you think? Is it going to be a large package or crate? It should probably arrive a week or so before the show opens. That should give me enough time to install the work.

My address is:

Michael Arata

Los Angeles, CA 90065

I thought I would share a couple of reviews from my current show.

Hi Qi,

I got three packages today, 2 from Jeff Faerber via NY and the Living Room and 1 from Megan Hildebrant via FL.

Could you send me a list of the participants again so I can keep track of who's work I have received and who I need to keep a watch out for.

This is going to be a fun show.I am looking forward to it. You are doing a great job.

Will any of the artist be coming out for the show?

Thanks, Michael

Hello Qi,

Sorry the dates have to stay the same.

I have 8 packages now. I think this m------ t------ e------ to fill the gallery. I am wondering if you may have included t------ m------ artists. M------ we should do 2 shows, part one and part 2. One would have to be in the Fall or spring 2011.

Any way I have received packages from Matt Jones, Vincent Como, 2 from Shung Kun, Magan Hildebrant, 2 from Jeff Farber and T.S. Sanford.

Are the rest of the list going to be in the show? Are you coming out to choose the work or should I s------ the work?

Do you have a press release with the show title and the artist list?

What is the site  address you sent me that has photos of the art work that will be included in the show? I would like to get some jpegs to get them on the school web site along with a press release. Shall make up an e card? What image?

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, Michael

Hey there Michael,

How are you doing? When is the planned end of the show? :)

I am thinking about ------ to ------ pieces total for the space and was basing my judgment on the video which seemed to depict e------ room for such.

Unless t------ w------ are allowed?

I am hoping to include at l------ o------ e------ for each artist and already a few artists are d------ out so basically I will finalize the list by the end of the week.

I will email you a flickr account link which depicts each of the pieces and we both can work together to s------ the f------ pieces.

I am going to have a------ the artists s------ the pieces before we make the f------ decisions if you are alright with that. That way we can p------ and c------ accordingly :)

I appreciate your patience and will be calling you later on this upcoming weekend. Thanks!

Sincerely, qi

Ps I won't be able to make it to the reception but hopefully drop by during the show.

Hello there Michael,

Awesome... about the works, a lot of the works are pretty small and some of them can be exhibited in a s------ fashion such as the two Kadar Brock pieces. Also the Matt Jones drawings need to be exhibited in a 4 by 4 fashion in accordance to his wishes. The Eric Doeringer pieces can be installed in an array of 12 in a row side by side. During the install if you can shoot some pictures and text message me at (801) 987-0244 that would work so that I can combine our inputs on the look.

The complete images can be found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/iaoprojects/sets/72157622472988893/ . These images will change as soon as I have all the selection of pieces available. Of course, if you can relay me the dimensions then we can figure out what we can do.

Cool beans. I appreciate your input and thanks very much again!

Hello there Michael,

I have attached the image for Dannielle Tegeder's mini installation to this email for use for the e card (if you can email me it that would be awesome). For this image it would need to be specified that "Image courtesy of Prischka C. Juschka Fine Art." I appreciate your doing this very much.

I just finished most of the website devoted to the show at http://lagroupshow.weebly.com/ and you can use the Flickr website to draw photos for each image at http://www.flickr.com/photos/iaoprojects/sets/72157622472988893/ so that you can repost at the college's website. I appreciate your doing this and thanks again!

Hello there Michael,

Much appreciated and thanks for everything here! By the way, I was talking with Dave Thomas (one of the artists) and was wondering whether it would be possible to coordinate this project at the Boise Art Museum if you were interested in pursuing this with him and myself? I can give you his phone number if you wish.
